SLEEP AND FATIGUE

Sleep - it is just so important! If we aren't getting enough sleep or our sleep quality is compromised, it starts to affect all aspects our health, including our mental health, our immune system, and it even effects our hormonal health and influences weight gain. Not to mention, the lack of energy starts to affect our ability to get the most out of life. Simple lifestyle changes can make a huge difference to sleep issues, as well as dietary changes and supplementation.

But what about fatigue?

There is a big difference between feeling tried from insufficient sleep and feeling fatigued. Fatigue is a heavy and foggy feeling that is often nothing to do with how much sleep you are getting. If you are getting sufficient, good quality sleep, but you are still waking unrefreshed and feeling fatigued most days, there is likely to be an underlying and treatable cause.

There are are numerous reasons a person can be feeling fatigued. Some of these include:

  • nutrient deficiencies, most commonly B12 and iron

  • adrenal insufficiency

  • under-functioning or over-functioning thyroid

  • chronic and ongoing stress

  • liver health and toxic overload. Here are some easy tips to detox our liver.

  • a viral infection, such as Epstein barr virus, which can affect the health of your liver and mitochondria (the energy power house of the cells).
